MLT partnered with Mono County, MMSA, the Westin, and the HSVC to host a French travel trade wholesalers FAM. The FAM was made up of some of the leading travel agents, and product managers in this key international market. The group spent 2 days in Mammoth Lakes, and were shown numerous properties, venues, attractions, and activities.

The goal was twofold: to increase visitation from this important market, and to increase the length of stay in the summer from one night to multiple nights for French travelers by showing the FAM participants the variety of things to see and experience in Mammoth Lakes.

#BikeMammoth Piece From Teton Gravity Research

Another great piece from the #BikeMammoth weekend was published on June 11, 2014 by Dylan Silver, a writer for Teton Gravity Research.

Dylan’s story is a humorous take on the weekend’s activities, with a takeaway message that is spot on.

“Mammoth is well known in the mountain biking realm for the resort’s eighty miles of downhill lift-serviced trails,” Silver writes. “The mountain is home to the  Kamikaze Bike Games, one of the sport’s gnarliest race series. But beyond the chairlifts and condos of the resort area, there’s a huge amount of riding to be done.”

#BikeMammoth Mountain Bike Weekend, May 9-11, 2014

During the weekend of May 9-11, 2014, Mammoth Lakes Tourism hosted five journalists from mountain bike publications including Bike Magazine, Decline and Teton Gravity Research (TGR). Participants were shown mountain bike trails outside of Mammoth Mountain’s Bike Park in an effort to show Mammoth Lakes off as a complete mountain bike destination.

In addition to a lot of social media attention in the first few days following the trip, the following was first piece that came out of the trip. Nicole’s takeaway pretty much nails what we were going after: “In the mountain-bike world, Mammoth is known for its eponymous ski resort and the bike park and singletrack there, as well as the legendary Kamikaze races. The trails off the mountain don’t get nearly the same attention, although they are definitely worth a trip on their own, and it won’t cost you a lift ticket.”
