Lee Foster of Foster Travel Publishing followed up his June visit to Mammoth Lakes for the Society of American Travel Writers western chapter conference with a fall colors trip in October. Foster was enamored by the “annual pageant of fall color in the aspen trees along Highway 395 in the eastern Sierra,” and brought his son along for some scouting.
The pair traveled up and down Hwy 395 for leaf peeping and was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful colors they found all along the route, especially in Mammoth Lakes.
“We came into Mammoth Lakes, expecting little, but found some lovely fall color right in the town of Mammoth around Twin Lakes.”
