In December 2015, for the first time on record, a single month of Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) collections broke $2 million with numbers coming in at more than $2.2 million. The occurrence has happened again with January 2016 collections coming in at more than $2.3 million and setting another new record.
Due to these recent successful months, the Mammoth Lakes Town Council approved increasing the town’s 2015/16-budget from $11.3 million to $13.1 million. Year-to-date actual collections total more than $9.1 million, well ahead of the budgeted $7.1 million for the July-January timeframe.
